Virtual Blue

Virtual Blue, offered through Blue Shield of California, is an integrated, virtual-first health care program that gives you fast, convenient access to care — without giving up access to local, in-person providers when you need them.

Unlike Teladoc, which connects you with an available doctor for one-off urgent visits, Virtual Blue allows you to choose a dedicated primary care physician for continuous, long-term care. Think of it as your full-time doctor — just virtual-first.

What’s the difference between Virtual Blue and Teladoc?

• PLUS+ plan members use Virtual Blue for comprehensive, ongoing virtual care with a dedicated care team.
• Non-PLUS+ plan members use Teladoc for episodic, on-demand telehealth visits.

Virtual Blue is available exclusively to members enrolled on a PLUS+ plan. If you are unsure which plan you have, please log in to your Blue Shield account or contact member services to confirm.

Blue Shield NurseHelp

NurseHelp is a program that can provide immediate answers to your health questions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can contact them FREE OF CHARGE at 877.304.0504. Teladoc

Teladoc provides you easy access 24 hours, 7 days a week to a US board-certified doctor through the convenience of phone, video or mobile app visits. To set up your account today, click here. We strongly suggest you set up your account before you need to use Teladoc. That way you won’t have to wait when you need to have an appointment.

Handy items to have when you set up your account are your Blue Shield of California ID card, your primary care physician’s name, address, phone and fax number and your preferred pharmacy’s name, address, phone and fax number. Having these items ahead of time will cut down on the time it takes to schedule your visit and provide you with any needed prescriptions.

TravelAid

TravelAid is a comprehensive Travel Assistance Services program providing 24/7 emergency medical and concierge assistance services when you are outside your home country or 100 or more miles away from your primary residence in your home country.

Expatriates are eligible for medical services while in your host country, while traveling outside of your home country, or while traveling within your home country 100 or more miles away from your primary residence.
