The North Coast Schools Medical Insurance Group (NCSMIG) is a California Joint Powers Authority (JPA) formed by Humboldt, Lake, and Siskiyou County school districts, community colleges and offices of education for the purpose of self-funding employee Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits.

About Us

Formed as a Joint Powers Authority, NCSMIG was founded in the late 1970s in response to continued changes in the California insurance marketplace.  As a California public entity, NCSMIG is comprised of K-12 school districts, county offices of education. It has continued to grow and evolve, and now encompasses membership from Humboldt, Siskiyou and Lake counties.  The programs are run by a board of at-large and permanent directors, as well as representatives from both the CTA and CSEA union groups.
